To combat the spread of post-flood diseases in Mumbai the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has come up with a new step. Guppy fish! Fish that eat up mosquito larvae. Excerpt from a CNN IBN article:
The state has started a number of gappi fish production centres in various health centres and civil hospitals. Gappi fish can reduce the density of mosquitoes by eating mosquito larvae. Labels: fish, monsoon |
